Impartiality policy

A certificate is only worth something if the body that issued it is independent. This is how we stay independent.

1.Our commitment

Top management of cert.solutions is committed to impartiality in all certification, audit and appraisal activities. We identify, analyse and manage risks to impartiality on an ongoing basis, and we do not allow commercial, financial or other pressures to compromise our decisions.

2.We certify and audit; we do not consult

We do not offer management system consultancy, implementation or internal audit services to clients we certify, and we do not design, build or fix the systems we audit. We do not suggest that certification would be simpler or cheaper if a particular consultant were used.

  • No consultancy for any client in the two years before we certify them
  • No internal audits for clients we certify
  • No marketing linked to a consultancy
  • Security findings are fixed by the client, then re-tested by us

3.Auditors and decision makers

Every auditor and appraiser declares any current or previous relationship with a client before being assigned. People who have worked for, or consulted to, a client in the last two years are not assigned to audit it.

Certification decisions are made by competent people who did not take part in the audit. Fees never depend on the outcome of an audit or decision.

4.Independent oversight

An impartiality committee, including people from outside the company with an interest in certification, reviews our risk assessment, our policies and a sample of our decisions at least once a year, and can raise concerns directly with top management.

5.Raising a concern

If you believe our impartiality has been compromised, email complaints@cert.solutions or use our complaints process. Concerns are investigated by people not involved in the work in question.
